Suede and Fringe

Hello again!

I was lucky enough to have this past weekend off, so Alex and I finally got to run a few errands and enjoy some time together. We also ended up having time for a quick shoot! I told you all that I would be posting more summer fashion, and this is me keeping my word. Lucky for me, I already had this look up my sleeve (ha, clothing puns) and was saving it for the perfect time.

Dress: Missguided
Hat: Missguided
Shoes: Aldo
Clutch: Aldo

The moment I laid eyes on this dress, I knew that it had to be mine. I have a pretty well-known weakness for fringe and the fact that this beautiful mauve-colored dress is also suede... well, it was pretty much game over. I happened to stumble upon this hat on the site, as well, and everyone knows that I haven't met a hat I didn't like. I've been meaning to pick up a summertime color/style, seeing as almost all of my hats are black, so this was the perfect addition to my closet. Fortunately enough, the hat also ended up going great paired with the dress... guess it was meant to be! I got the clutch and the shoes initially for an upcoming wedding, but I thought I would break them in beforehand because well why not? Overall, I'm really happy with this muted, neutral summer look. This one will probably be repeated, just don't turn me in to the Fashion Police.

Until next time...

California Adventures: Danielle Rose

Hello, loves!

I was pretty excited to receive a text from Alee today telling me to check my email, only to then receive another set of photos from my trip to California. Truth be told, I completely forgot about this set. Oops! We shot like crazy that week and somehow this look slipped my mind, but falling back in love with this memory definitely made my day. Thanks again for the photos, Alee!

This was an outfit Alee and I pieced together in about 5 minutes.

Top: borrowed / similar @ Forever 21, Gypsy Warrior
Bralette: Urban Outfitters
Shorts: vintage Wrangler cutoffs
Booties: Tobi

Alee, Mike and I pulled over on the side of the highway to shoot at this abandoned chapel and tiny pink house. It was extremely windy that day (hence the hair-craziness and the squinting) which added so much drama to this gorgeous maxi shirt dress we borrowed from Alee's work. I paired the floral maxi with my favorite lace bralette and vintage Wranglers and duh – black booties.

Side note: The marks on my legs were the result of my previous eczema outbreak :( bleh. I'm happy to report that they have since then healed up nicely!

Until next time...

California Adventures: Candy Girl

Annnnnnd I'm back!

Hope you all have been well! I've been quite the busy-bee as the summer deals keep flowing in at work. I'm happy to report that Denver is finally getting some warm weather... having 3 straight weeks of nonstop pouring rain really put a damper on my mood – I was dying to be back in my rompers and dresses again. Wearing heavy knits and jackets throughout the entirety of May just felt so wrong! Anyways, now that the sun is here (and hopefully here to stay), I promise I'll be out and about bringing you more summer outfit posts, both here and on my Instagram and Tumblr as well.

I decided to do a series of posts from my California trip back in April, this being number one! Be sure to check back for more details of my adventures, as I'm super excited to share them all with you! :)

This set was taken in Joshua Tree, where we did a majority of our shooting. Alee's mom's house was just down the road, and her neighbor was nice enough to let us shoot in his backyard which was full of character – there were three wooden horses that I couldn't pass up shooting with. It just so happened that this little baby matched my outfit perfectly, and the horses gave the mood that playful touch we were going for.

Sneakers: Converse via Nasty Gal
Sunglasses: (borrowed) similar styles – Forever 21 and Wildfox

You may recognize this romper if you're a fan of Lil Debbie. She has this fun little number in the reverse color-option as mine, being all blue with a pink chevron stripe. I actually scooped this up at a Buffalo Exchange back in Arizona for only $10... what a steal!

Social Decay Part II

Hello, my loves!

It's been quite awhile, hasn't it? I haven't had much free time to blog, and with the weather having been well... less than perfect, it's been a crapshoot trying to get a day to shoot. My photographer friends Alee Rose and Mike Matos have had super busy schedules, and thus their time to edit has been quite limited. I'm super excited to share my Cali adventures with you all, though!

In the meantime, I thought I'd do a quick little filler post to thank the babes over at Social Decay for sending me a little pick-me-up  care package last week. After two weeks of nonstop rain here in Denver, I've been pretty down in the dumps. It's hard to stay cheerful in constantly gloomy weather. That being said, I came home from work last week to a package from Social Decay that really brightened the rest of my week. My Brooklyn babes so generously sent me three new tanks! I'm happy to have a fairly extensive Social Decay collection in my wardrobe, and I'm anxious to see what these ladies cook up in their new collection coming soon!

Be sure to check them out, guys, visit:

Top: Social Decay
Jeans: H&M
Booties: Target
Jacket: Zara
Faux Septum: Gold Soul

In my previous post celebrating my first care package from these babes, I styled one of their shredder tanks in two different ways. This "Season of the Witch" tank is one of three that I recently received. So far I've already worn my other two tanks to work, and today, I decided to wear this one to brunch. Today was the first day in awhile that hasn't been rainy, so Alex and I took advantage and managed to snap a few pics. I paired the top with my favorite jeans I scooped up from work and my absolute favorite leather jacket. I'm excited to be able to wear this top with shorts again, here's to hoping that Denver hops on the sunshine train!

P.S. no I didn't pierce my septum, it's faux. I got this cute lil guy from Gold Soul and have become quite fond of it. I'm trying to get used to the idea of having one because I have, in fact, been seriously considering the real deal for a bit. Thoughts?

I'll be back to blog to you all again, soon.

A Crochet Kind of Day

It's been awhile, hasn't it?

I apologize for my absence, but aside from a busy schedule I've also had a few medical issues that got in the way of my being able to shoot looks/make posts. I recently had a fairly severe eczema outbreak that spread all over my legs, and onto my arms and lower stomach. This unfortunate situation really took a toll on my self-esteem but I'm happy to report that my prescription helped to clear it all up.

I've also got some news to share with you all. Next Monday, I will be on a plane headed to California where I'll be reuniting with my dear friends Alee Rose and photographer Mike Matos. We have a week-long adventure planned full of LOTS of shooting, I'm excited to share it all with you! While I'm there, I will be updating my Tumblr and Instagram fairly frequently, so feel free to follow me on there to keep up with the shenanigans. You can find the links at the top of my blog!

We've been blessed with beautiful warm weather the past couple of weeks, and I could not be happier to welcome spring. I am feeling a little bit apprehensive about allergy season, but I will gladly accept a stuffy nose in exchange for warm sunshine. I've been patiently waiting to wear this gorgeous maxi, so it comes as no surprise that as soon as a 78 degree day presented itself, I jumped at the opportunity. I also used the sunshine as an excuse to go barefoot. I'm too happy about warm weather.

I scored this gorgeous crochet dress two summers ago during what was probably my most successful trip to a Buffalo Exchange. My friend Brianna and I took a day trip to NYC and she came across this beauty squeezed way in the back of a clothing rack. By some sort of twist of fate, the dress just so happened to be an extra small, and a perfect fit. I've been asked about it so often, and here it is: my absolute favorite piece in my wardrobe. I cannot get over the intricate details and the craftsmanship, this dress is so beautiful and unique. Thanks again, Brianna, for being the best shopping assistant.

I'll be blogging again when I'm back from California.

Until next time...
XOXO
