Cropped 'n Cozy

Annnnd I'm back!

So the past few days have been a bit of a whirlwind as Alex and I have experienced a few mishaps. My laptop was dropped and is currently in a repair shop for a few days, but in the meantime, Alex has graciously offered to let me use his so that I could do this post.

Over the past weekend, Alex and I decided to take a trip back to our favorite part of Denver: Santa Fe Drive. This is the art district and the street is lined with art gallery after art gallery after art gallery. There's also a bunch of dope antique shops and thrift stores, most of which we've already explored. I found a few furniture pieces that I'll probably go back for, they were too beautiful to pass up.

Of course before any adventure begins, there must be caffeine. We stumbled into this doorway that opened up to this absolutely darling little courtyard with colored walls and murals. The courtyard was like a one-stop shop for all things wonderful: an adorable little café, an art gallery, and this absolutely precious bookstore that had a miniature "free library" where people could borrow/donate books. I thought that was such a cool idea! I grabbed myself a dirty chai and we continued to bop around all of Santa Fe Dr. until we got too chilly and decided to hop in the car for an afternoon drive.

So after we hopped into Alex's car and drove away, we decided to take a nice scenic drive (something we do very often). This has become one of my favorite things to do with Alex, recently. He just tells me to play my favorite songs and we drive through beautiful mountain passes. It's not much, I suppose, but those are the times I feel the least lonesome even if we aren't talking and I'm just singing off-key to the birds and the mountains.

One of the nicest things about where we live is that we're about 15 minutes away from mountains or the city in either direction (and Hannah Montana thought she had the best of both worlds! Psssshhtt... please). We drove down through a curvy road and only pulled over when we saw how beautiful the ice and snow was on the creek alongside the road. I'm beyond blessed to live somewhere so effortlessly beautiful... I mean how many people can say the side of the highway looks like this?

Working retail has its perks... I scored this cozy cropped turtleneck for $3 after sale markdowns and the added employee discount. Definitely worth it.

Hope to be blogging to you all again, soon!

Until next time...

Baetlejuice, Baetlejuice, Baetlejuice...

Hello to you all! I hope 2015 has been treating you well, thus far.

To catch you up a little bit on what's been going on with me, I've been having somewhat of a difficult time the past month or so. I seemed to have slipped into a funk and it really stunted a lot of my creativity as well as my confidence. I had no motivation, no hope for myself... I really haven't felt this low in quite some time, and the influx of bad energy really left me feeling exhausted and too overwhelmed to do anything. My boyfriend has been super supportive of me and has been doing everything in his power to comfort me, and for that I am extremely lucky. I am happy to report that things have been (slowly but surely) looking up and I'm hoping that a positive mindset and the purge of all negative vibes in my life helps to continue my progression.

This will be my last post involving material from 2014. I was sad to see that year go since it was so incredibly good to me, but time waits for no one and this new year can hold just as much opportunity for me. Now that we are in 2015, I decided to revamp my blog. I plan on jumping back into my poetry and hopefully I can incorporate some of that in my posts. Alex and I have some big, big plans for upcoming posts and I'm really excited to see where this year takes me and my blog.

Stripes are probably my favorite pattern when it comes to clothes. There's just something about them... maybe it's the way they elongate or maybe it's just that they're the perfect little pop of detail into an outfit. Whatever the case may be, it's no secret to anyone who knows me... I fucking love stripes. Especially if they're black and white. This bodysuit is actually an American Apparel dupe that I picked up at Forever 21 for $2.80 almost 3 years ago (wow!) I've paired it with maxi skirts, mini skirts, shorts, jeans, kimonos, blazers... anything, really. I wear it so often that I'm tempted to nickname it my "second skin."

A big thank you to Alee for taking these photos and for taking time out of her very busy life just to edit them so that I could make this post. If you don't already, follow her on...
