If The Silence Takes You, Then I Hope It Takes Me, Too

Hello, dear friends.

This past week has been a very difficult one for me as I lost someone who has been a major part of my life. My grandfather recently passed, and I've been having a very hard time coping. My pop was my whole world, my hero. As naive as this may be, I never really thought this day would come. He has always been incredibly healthy and active, so when his health started going downhill pretty quickly, I didn't really know how to process it all. As much time as I spent with him in the hospital, I still wasn't really prepared for his departure and even now, I still don't quite know how to feel. That being said, I haven't gotten out much (my own doing, really) but today my boyfriend and I spent some much needed time together outside on this beautiful day. I like to think the gorgeous weather was my pop-pop's doing, so a big thank you to him for inspiring me to get out of the house.

This post is dedicated to my pop-pop, whose free-spiritedness was ever present in me today.

My boyfriend and I are currently planning our big move to Colorado, so my posts might not be so frequent just yet (please bear with me!) but when we do finally get all settled in, you can definitely expect more nature/earthy photo sets from here on out. Autumn also happens to be my favorite season, and seeing as I haven't gotten to experience the changing of the leaves these past few years, I am going to be taking full advantage. I will be sure to do a few text posts as well to keep you all updated on me and Alex's future endeavors.

Much love to you all and thank you, as always, for reading.

Trend: Boyfriend Jeans

Hello, everyone!

I'm excited to share this post with you as it will be the first of many posts including shots by my own personal photographer: my boyfriend, Alex. I must say that I'm extremely lucky to have someone so talented in my life, and even luckier to have someone so supportive of me and my blogging endeavors. As I continue to blog, he will be my primary photographer. So, in that regard, you can assume all photos of me are taken by him, unless otherwise stated.

One of my absolute favorite style trends is the menswear/boyfriend look. Growing up, I was quite a tomboy. I think it had something to do with always being around my older brother and his friends, but I really never considered myself "girly" and I still wouldn't to this day. The best thing about boyfriend jeans is the comfort factor. The relaxed, baggy fit allows for ultimate slumping and being that most womenswear isn't always exactly cozy, I definitely take advantage of the comfort. I usually do this by making it a 100% man-inspired look by wearing a big, baggy flannel or an oversized, slouchy tee but this time I decided to play with masculine vs. feminine. I tend to like things in opposition, I feel that it adds a bit of balance to everything.

I just recently received these booties in the mail a few days ago after scoring them for half the price (gotta love Labor Day sales!) from Forever 21. I was sifting through my closet and came across this blazer and decided that it would not only match the booties, but also tie into the whole outfit duality I had envisioned in my head, and soon enough the entire look came together with great ease.

I do intend on doing quite a few posts incorporating different ways to style boyfriend jeans. I think they're a great staple piece and they're actually pretty versatile in terms of styling... not to mention the oversized fit is really flattering on girls who are more petite (like myself). Fellow tiny girls: do yourselves a favor and go grab a pair or two of boyfriend jeans, if you haven't already!

Public Desire

Hi there, everyone!

This is sort of a "Part Two" to my previous post, although it isn't Badwood related. Alee and I shot this look immediately afterward, and I'm more than happy with the outcome.

If there is anything I love, it's platforms. I swear by them. Maybe it's because I'm biased and my height or lack there of draws me to them, or maybe it's because I can achieve the height I desire without killing my arches in uncomfortable shoes... either way, platforms and I are like peas and carrots. I was lucky enough to come across this online store called Public Desire via Instagram. Who knew their "accounts you might also like" suggestions would actually come in handy? Despite the fact that the store is in the UK, with affordable prices and speedy shipping (given that it's international) I really couldn't say no. My biggest struggle was deciding on a pair, and I probably would've bought two if it hadn't been for these show-stoppers. Initially I saw them in all white and was pretty dead-set on buying them since I went through a pretty serious white phase this summer, but I got a bit greedy and kept on scrolling when POW! These babies hit me like a Mack truck and just like that, it was a done deal. No questions asked, no second thoughts. My only regret is that I didn't wear them more this summer.

This dress almost didn't happen. I was scrolling through Tobi because I had gotten an email about a crazy Labor Day sale and had originally seen it in a different color combo that wasn't so much my taste. I kept it open in a tab and kept looking through other options when they had it pictured again, but in this color combo instead. At first I didn't think it was even the same dress (it's crazy how something as simple as color scheme can change an entire piece so drastically) so I clicked on it to see if my size was still available and lo and behold, there it was: the dress in not only two, but three different color choices. I was back and forth between two options, but I just happened to look over at my closet only to see my Public Desire platforms and that ultimately guided my decision making (plus, it wouldn't hurt to add some pink to my wardrobe). I am more than happy with the fit and feel of the dress. It's a fancier substitute to my typical t-shirt dresses... not to mention it's lightweight and really cool.
